The Best Beaches of Cape May, NJ

Wednesday, May 4th, 2011

Tripadvisor has honored the beaches of Cape May, NJ. Our town was #2 on the 2011 Travelers’ Choice list of Top 25 Beaches in the United States. We can’t really take any credit for the beaches, but we’re thrilled nonetheless.

Plan a trip to our Cape May Bed and Breakfast and see why our beaches have received so many kudos. Sunset Beach is an aptly named, favorite place to watch the sunset. Each evening during the summer there is a flag lowering ceremony, which is worth experiencing at least once. When not admiring the view, be sure to scan the beach for quartz pebbles – these Cape May diamonds should grace every mantle.

Cape May’s Wildwood Aviation Museum

Wednesday, February 23rd, 2011

If you plan to stay at our Cape May NJ Bed and Breakfast during the week next month, consider spending an hour or two at Cape May’s Wildwood Aviation Museum.

The Naval Air Station Wildwood Museum at the Cape May Airport is home to 26 historic aircraft, numerous engines, photographs, and military memorabilia. A number of interactive exhibits help clarify the science of flight, and the museum library is open to the public.

The TBM- Avenger.

See the F-5E Tiger II, a lightweight supersonic fighter from the early 1960, and Lockheed’s T-33 Thunderbird, a plane that has been in the air forces of more than 20 countries for forty years. Also on view is the TBM- Avenger, a torpedo-bomber from the second world war, and the type of plane that was originally stationed at NAS Wildwood.

Any guests of our Bed and Breakfast Cape May who are interested in aviation or military history will find time spent at the Wildwood Aviation Museum worthwhile. The museum is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through March; April through September it is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Eat Like a Local

Friday, February 11th, 2011

Cape May has dozens of restaurants, which is remarkable for a town of its size. Many restaurants close or have limited hours during the winter months, when the population shrinks and there are fewer visitors. In the humble opinion of these Cape May Bed and Breakfast innkeepers, this is one of the best times to dine out in Cape May. (Dine out in?)

The reason is that many of the restaurants open in February cater to locals. If you’re the kind of person who enjoys experiencing new places through the eyes of a local, then local joints are perfect. This isn’t to say that restaurants open only during the summer months aren’t good – in fact, many of them are outstanding. It’s just that we have a soft spot in our hearts (and our bellies) for restauranteurs who stay in Cape May with us over the winter, rather than flying south. (more…)

Monday, July 26th, 2010

We’ve known it all along here at our Cape May bed and breakfast, but frankly, we didn’t want to say it and appear boastful. Now, someone else has said it for us; Cape May gives out a hearty shout of thanks to Forbes Traveler for listing us as one of the prettiest towns in America.

Our pretty street, early in the morning.
