The winter months are quiet in Cape May; fewer people come here when it’s too chilly to sunbathe. Because of that, it’s deliciously peaceful. We can stroll the beach any time of day and have it mostly to ourselves. We can bike all over town at our leisure. We can eat where we want, when we want.

Back in 2010, Forbes Travel listed Cape May as one of the prettiest towns in America. We’re hoping we’ll also be known as one of the coolest.

The Understudy is the latest comedy written by Theresa Rebeck. Delve into the jealousies, passions, and rivalries that take place behind the scenes in this vivacious satire. The Understudy runs Tuesdays – Sundays, June 22 – July 30, 2011.

Before you head out for a night at the theater, linger for T-time at our Bed and Breakfast Cape May NJ. T-time takes place each evening between 5 – 6 p.m. All guests are welcome to stop by for a glass of freshly made Fresh Fruit Punch, a glass of wine (our Chateau Blanc), or a combination of the two, affectionately known as Barbara’s Sangria. It’s always relaxed and entertaining.

Spend an afternoon touring Cape May County’s wineries: Cape May Winery, Turdo Vineyard, Hawk Haven Vineyard, or Natali Vieyard, where you may taste locally crafted wines and learn a bit about the wine making process. Have tea at the Carriage House at the historic Emlen Physick Estate; while there, be sure to visit the Carriage House Gallery’s exhibit entitled, Can I Get a Witness! A Testament to the Black Church in Cape May County. Bundle up and enjoy a Trolley Tour through town.

Of course, you may just want to devote your time to blustery walks on the beach and reading by the fire. Sometimes the best mini-vacations are the ones during which we make no plans at all.
