It’s true – dads love Cape May, NJ. If you’re looking for a good way to express your love for your dad this Father’s Day, consider spending a few days with him at our Cape May Bed and Breakfast.

History buff dads will find Cape May full of beautifully preserved and restored historic buildings. Tour The Colonial House, which dates from the 1700s and is the oldest house in Cape May, and Emlen Physick Estate (1878). Spend a few hours at the Cape May County Historical Museum. Visit nearby Historic Cold Spring Village to see a historic reenactment of a mid-19th century rural community.

Mariner fathers will enjoy that fact that Cape May, NJ, is a seacoast town with scenic cruises , dinner cruises, and whale watching excursions. There are nature safaris through the salt marshes and back bay birding and history tours. The Cape May – Lewes Ferry is another way to enjoy water views of historic harbors, marine life, and historic lighthouses; the journey between New Jersey and Delaware lasts 85 minutes.

Angling dads will love the superlative fishing waters of Cape May. Numerous fishing charters lead anglers off shore and in shore. Dads can try saltwater fly fishing or head out to deep waters.

Dads who like outdoor recreation may want to tour the area on one of the bikes we have for guests of our Bed and Breakfast Cape May, NJ. They may want to go for a hike through Maurice River Bluffs Preserve, or try parasailing. Of course, the beaches of Cape May always beckon.

There is little doubt that your father will most enjoy spending time with you, even if all you do is sit together on the porch of our historic Cape May Bed and Breakfast, sipping cool drinks.

Virginia has Colonial Williamsburg, New England has Shaker Villages, and Cape May, NJ, has Cold Spring Village. These are all wonderful places to watch history spring to life and engage with it. The next time you stay at our bed and breakfast Cape May, tear yourself away from the beach and shops and go back in time at Cold Spring Village.

To start with, Cold Spring Village sits on 30 beautiful acres and features nearly as many restored historic buildings. It recreates the period between 1789-1840. Heritage crops are grown in the gardens and interpreters demonstrate period crafts; you can watch a blacksmith at work, visit a book bindery, and browse a historic country store. It’s a fun way to imagine what life was like for villages outside of the thriving historic port of Cape May. All of the historic buildings (except the Grange Restaurant) were relocated to the village site from the surrounding area.

Start your day with tasty coffee and food at our bed and breakfast Cape May. The Grange Restaurant at Cold Spring Village is a good spot for lunch, before or after you visit the village. We look forward to hearing about your day’s adventures over “Tea Time” in the evening.

We are delighted to announce Craig’s return to our Cape May bed and breakfast during the weekend of March 12 – 13, 2010.

Join us for a weekend with Craig McManus

You’ll be invited to partake in spirits at the nearby Virginia Hotel on Friday evening, before an evening of spirits at Cold Spring Village. Craig will chat with guests over a tasty breakfast Saturday morning, and be available at tea time later in the day as well. He is open to communicating with your departed relatives, although he cannot make guarantees.

Should the weather cooperate, Craig will lead a tour of Cape May Saturday afternoon; he’ll point out some of his favorite haunts and provide a bit of interesting paranormal background.

The real fun will begin Saturday at 9 pm, with a seance in the parlor of our b&b Cape May. Expect the unexpected.

We never know what Craig will experience when he is here, or what he will uncover for our guests. But we do know that a weekend with Craig McManus is always fascinating and fun.
