motherly love

No one loves you like your mother.

This weekend is Mother’s Day, and we know that you have a mother to celebrate. When was the last time that you took your mother away for the weekend? When was the last time that you took the mother of your children away for the weekend? No matter, you can do it this weekend at our Cape May Bed and Breakfast. You may sit on our porch and swap stories, or play a game and enjoy one another’s company. We will help make the mother in your life feel special and loved.

May is a great time to visit Cape May, and the John F Craig House is a great place to stay while here. BedandBreakfast.com named us one of the 10 best inns in the Mid-Atlantic states – the only winner in Cape May. We love what we do, we enjoy our guests, and we strive to make everyone comfortable while here. So come enjoy the beaches and our historic town; Mom will be so pleased.

Treat Mom to tea at the Carriage House Tearoom & CafĂ©. Located on the grounds of the 1879 Emma Physick Estate, the Carriage House serves a traditional tea service in the original (renovated) carriage house of the estate. If the weather is fine, you may dine outside on the brick patio. It’s a great way to thank your favorite mother for all that she does.

Cape May Wine Weekend

The first weekend of May is an ideal time to sip wine, and we are inviting you to stay with us at the John F. Craig House and take part in the Cape May Wine Weekend. Friday, May 1, indulge in a four-course Wine Tasting Dinner at the Washington Inn; the featured wine this weekend is Riesling, and all four courses are tailored specifically to highlight this tasty white. But the fun only starts with the meal. Saturday, you are invited to take part in a guided tour at the award-winning Cape May Winery Cellar Tour & Tasting. Sunday afternoon makes the weekend complete with a Wine School Class at the winery, where the wine steward will give you individual attention as he educates you on the wines you taste.

The John F. Craig House is less than a half mile from The Washington Inn, an 1840 plantation home that has been transformed into a fabulous restaurant. It’s an easy stroll if you like to walk, and a very short drive. Relax on our porch or bask in the sun in our gardens after your tour of the winery on Saturday, or before your class on Sunday. Consider taking advantage of our in-room massage special to make the weekend ultra-relaxing. After all, winter has finally departed, and the lovely month of May is upon us. It is time to celebrate.
